WELCOME HOME!!!!! And what a sight. Flying into Seattle in the spring, with snow-capped mountains, cherry blossoms enveloping the trees, magnolias in bloom, and a calming peace over the sounds. Being back in the states wasn't as rude of an awakening as we thought. How nice it is to be back.
We spent the first night with Keris's cousin Helen and her husband Tyler with their babies Cade and Max. Of course, we had to stop by the Pike St. market and pick up the Northwest's finest King Crab Legs and Salmon for dinner. A quick tour through the city and it was time to relax at home. The next morning it was off to a Saturday Farmer's market and tour of north Seattle, catching some of the great views.
We met up with Maysie, David, and Nonnie on our second night for more great food and stories. By now the jet lag was catching up. The next morning after a long sleep, we took a walk up the hill above Alki and circled down to the waterfront. A driving tour of downtown Seattle and a 2nd stop at Pike St. for more supplies, and it was time for another feast!
Day 3 - The road trip begins. Stuart's college roommate, Lee, joined us for this leg of the journey. The trip was a lot of fun even having just covered 7000 miles in NZ by car. We made our way to Eugene, OR the first day to stay with Peter and Carolyn. It was a full house, and a lot of fun. Carolyn even packed us lunches for the next day's trip to San Francisco!
Day 4 - We visited Nana and Papa Davis since they weren't able to be at our wedding - so we had lots of stories to share with them! We're so thankful to have gotten the opportunity to visit with them since Papa passed away just weeks later. His memory lives on in our hearts.
We made it to San Francisco after dark to stay with John, so we left our sightseeing for the next day. Back to the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and a 2nd chance at a good photo on Lombard St.

Keris was able to capture us in action coming down Lombard St.
Tasting at our favorite Santa Barbara winery - Koehler.
.... here's for tasting over the next few months as well.....
John helped organize an all-day beach party for Saturday. The lineup had 8 DJ's rotating from noon til sunset.
John (KP Ward) taking his turn at the helm.
Still a large crowd as the the sun set. Fire dancers lit up the beach as the sky grew dark.
Another day of wine tasting. Checking out the dungeon room at Sunstone.
Side trip for a hike to a waterfall.
Keris and Lee in downtown Solvang. It's a quaint little "Danish" town north of Santa Barbara. Having spent 4 months in Copenhagen, it feels a little more like the Disneyland version of Denmark.
Sitting down to the largest rack of ribs we've seen, along with fresh produce from the farmer's market - GIANT artichokes.
Our last night on the west coast. Enjoying the view with yet another glass of vino.
Tomorrow, we'll be in Austin!

Lee took off in the afternoon, but Mom, Dad, and Megan arrived that night (the logistics of this trip was a bit of a nightmare). A satisfying Pho dinner, and we hit the hay early so we could get to the wineries near Santa Barbara early the next morning.

Great post guys. Sad to hear the news. Your grandpa was a great person and I was glad to have met him as well. Take care.
